Thompson moves to new home

AFTER SERVING its customers for almost 50 years at the same location in Greenwood, Miss., Thompson Machinery has moved to its new home, next door.

A Caterpillar distributor, Thompson Machinery celebrated the grand opening of its new operations facility with an official ribbon cutting.

“We've built this new facility to better service our customers. It provides greatly improved working conditions and much greater efficiency,” says Thompson Machinery branch manager Hank Williams. “This new structure is our expression of confidence in the Mississippi Delta and the wide range of customers we serve from this location.”

The new 30,000 square foot building consolidates departments formerly housed in separate structures, and is designed to provide state-of-the-art capabilities to Thompson's agricultural, construction, and industrial customers, according to the company.

Included in the new facility is a 20,000 square foot parts and service department, an expanded parts warehouse, and 14 machinery service bays outfitted with both diagnostic and repair equipment.

The improved operations center also includes a consolidated sales and parts counter, employee and customer training centers, and several meeting rooms. The design of the new building allows easier access for both parts and sales customers, as well as large trucks and equipment, according to company officials.

Thompson Machinery, headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., has been an authorized Caterpillar dealer since 1944. In addition to its facilities in Nashville, the machinery company operates dealerships in Camden, Tenn., Clarksville, Tenn., Jackson, Tenn., Memphis and Columbus, Miss.,
