Recharging the Delta alluvial aquifer may be challenging: Part I

With 19,000 irrigation wells operating in the Mississippi Delta each summer considerable thought is being given to replenishing the alluvial aquifer underlying it. That may be a bigger challenge than many think, according to the USDA-ARS’ James Rigby. Rigby talked about some possible solutions to the dwindling water table in a presentation at the 2016 Mississippi Water Resources Conference in Jackson.
