Rice field day draws crowd despite threat of rain

LSU Rice Research Station scientists had to make some adjustments, but they all were able to impart most of the information they had prepared for the station's annual field day on June 25. The rains held off long enough to allow the LSU AgCenter's Randy Price and Charles Malveaux to demonstrate a UAV Malveaux built to help give producers an idea of how the machines could help them see what's happening on the back side of a rice field.

By that afternoon, the rains resumed and continued throughout the Mid-South region for several more days, causing flooding in some rural and urban areas.
