Missouri could have second highest rice acreage in 2012

The wet conditions that plagued Southeast Missouri rice farmers last spring reduced the state’s 2011 crop to 115,000 acres. Rice specialist Donn Beighley believes rice acreage will recover to as much as 175,000, which would be the second highest for the state. He talked about last year’s crop and what’s ahead for 2012 in an interview at the USA Rice Outlook Conference.
