Developing new rice varieties for today’s demanding rice markets can be challenging in itself. But trying to put those characteristics into a variety that was naturally selected for its tolerance to a grass herbicide can be a very tall order. The LSU AgCenter’s Steve Linscombe discussed his work on breeding new varieties for Provisia rice during a stop at the Horizon Ag Field Day in Rayne, La.
