Winning the peanut wars: Part III

Farmers may see a slight yield dip when they apply “burner” herbicides to peanuts in late season. Many times the 5-percent-or-so loss may be justified because of the weed competition; in others the cure may be worse than the disease. Jason Sarver, Mississippi peanut specialist, discussed weed control problems and irrigation strategies in peanuts at the Mississippi Farm Bureau’s Summer Peanut Commodity Meeting in Greenwood.
