Old faces in new MSU places

According to Vance H. Watson, vice president of Mississippi State University’s Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine, Mississippi producers will soon see some familiar faces in new places.

Effective Dec. 1, Extension Rice Specialist Joe Street has been promoted to interim head, or station director, of the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center in Verona. Street, who has served as Extension rice specialist, researcher and professor at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, Miss., replaces Reuben Moore.

Moore is now the new associate director of the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Extension Service, based in Starkville. In his new capacity, Moore will be primarily responsible for the support units of MAFES and principle liaison with the branches and Research and Extension Centers.

Another familiar face, Tim Walker, will fill in for Joe Street as Mississippi Extension Rice Specialist. Although his range of responsibilities has increased, Walker won’t have to relocate as he was already serving Delta rice growers out of his office at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, Miss.
