Monsanto announces in-licensing of cotton lines

Monsanto has announced in-licensing of six cotton lines from JaJo Genetics in Baton Rouge, La. The lines have been converted to include Monsanto's transgenic traits and are expected to be included in the company's portfolio.

The lines in-licensed include JAJO 0065, JAJO 8098, JAJO 8185, JAJO 8190, JAJO 8192 and JAJO 8200. The products came from the breeding program of Jack Jones who was previously a breeder for Louisiana State University when he developed LA887 and several conventional Hartz varieties, including H1220.

Monsanto has an open licensing commitment that includes both in-licensing and out-licensing products that crosses genetics and traits. The company works with outside breeders and technology partners to bring in varieties and traits that compliment Monsanto's portfolio.
