Mississippi Farm Bureau leaders talked about the political and economic outlook for 2015 and received an update on the provisions of the Agricultural Act of 2015 during their Winter Commodities Conference in Jackson.

Informa Economics' Jim Wiesemeyer, who has covered Washington for Informa and Pro Farmer for 30 years, gave his thoughts on the political scene in Washington and asked some pointed questions about the implementation of the new farm bill.

Dr. Michael Swanson, ag economist and senior vice president at Wells Fargo Bank, spoke on the Macroeconomic Environment, Trade and Fiscal Policy for the nation and the world during the conference.

The Conference closed with a 2014 Farm Bill Decisions Panel that featured Dr. Pat Wetshoff, director of the Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute at the University of Missouri; Michael Rochelle, assistant director of member services at the National Cotton Council, and Trevor White with Combest, Sell and Associates in Washington.
