Harvest faster, handle grain better

What’s new from the shows: Here are products that make harvest and grain handling more efficient.

By Farm Progress staff

From combine heads that help you capture more crop in the field to grain dryers that work quietly and efficiently, new products introduced at recent farm shows prove companies that specialize in products for harvest and grain handling are on the cutting edge. They’re introducing new models and new concepts that can help you put more quality grain in the truck and the bin — and do it more efficiently and cost-effectively than in the past.

Claas brings a draper header to market that should help farmers harvesting crops such as soybeans do an excellent job capturing as much of the crop as possible. Mathews Co. introduces a new grain dryer this year, and so does GSI. New grain dryers tend to be more sensitive to conserving energy and running as efficiently and quietly as possible.

Part of harvesting and grain handling is knowing how much grain you brought out of the field. Yield monitors can get you extremely close. Weigh in every load that comes into your grain center with the new Cardinal truck scales, and you will have accurate information on how much grain you produced in each field on each farm. The new Stop Assist feature from Sudenga can help you or whoever is driving your trucks experience less frustration when they pull in to dump grain at the grain center. It helps them know exactly where they need to be to unload efficiently.
