Variable-rate, new technology saving energy dollars for grower

Tim Schmeekle farms about 1,000 acres of corn with one hired hand. That’s a tough proposition when you consider he has to irrigate every acre in his dry, western Nebraska climate. Fortunately, Schmeekle is employing a number of new technology tools to make every drop of irrigation water count. He discussed his system in this interview on his farm near Gothenberg, Neb.
