Diane Hawks to lead state FSA committee

USDA HAS appointed the five state committee members for the Mississippi Farm Service Agency, Sens. Thad Cochran and Trent Lott announced.

The Agriculture Department said that Diane Hawks of Hernando, Miss., will chair the committee. Other committee members include: Jeff Howell of Lucedale, Ted Kendall IV of Bolton, Rick Parsons of Vance and William Spight of Ripley.

“These individuals will do an outstanding job of administering farm commodity programs and working to make sure our state's farmers and ranchers are informed and that their needs are being met,” said Cochran, the state's senior senator.

The Farm Service Agency state committees, which are made up of farmers, help to keep producers informed about FSA programs and activities and monitor and resolve appeals and complaints within the agriculture community.

“The Farm Service Agency administers a variety of programs that are essential to agriculture and the many jobs it provides throughout Mississippi,” said Lott, minority leader in the Senate.

“These individuals have strong backgrounds in farm production, and they fully understand the purpose and operation of the FSA and its value to farmers.”
