Successes don’t outweigh negatives as cotton season approaches

This has been a discouraging winter for Shane Stephens, the newly elected chairman of the National Cotton Council, and other leaders of the cotton industry. Although they have scored some successes on payment limits and commodity certificates, the biggest prize – designation of cottonseed as an other oilseed – had eluded them. Stephens said the NCC is redoubling its efforts on seeking meaningful assistance for producers during a speech at the Mid-South Farm and Gin Show.
