O.A. Cleveland: Weather and economic uncertainties overhang cotton market

It's "extremely unusual" to see all the major cotton producing nations have weather problems at the same time, says O. A. Cleveland, Jr., Mississippi State University Extension economics professor emeritus and long-time cotton analyst, and that, along with economic problems in China, is beginning to have an impact on prices for the fiber crop.

He discussed the situation at the joint annual meeting of the Mississippi Boll Weevil Management Corporation and the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation Cotton Policy Committee, held at Grenada, Miss., July 7.
