Cotton may need changes to regulatory system

Cotton Incorporated’s Cotton Competitiveness Conference addressed a number of areas where changes may be required if cotton is to regain its competitive edge. CI’s Bob Nichols talked about how changes in the regulatory system may be needed for growers to be able to control weed and disease pests economically. The complex regulatory system in the U.S. is one of the reasons no new herbicides have been registered for cotton since the 1980s.
