Syngenta to sell soybeans by seed count

Syngenta Seeds, Inc. has announced that all NK brand soybeans will be sold in EZ-Count 140,000 seed unitsfor the 2011 planting season.

By selling soybeans in EZ-Count 140,000 seed units rather than 50-pound units, Syngenta offers growers a more accurate, convenient and equitable way to order seed. The weight of the EZ-Count units will vary. However, the number of seeds in each unit will always equal 140,000 regardless the size of the seed.

“Through the new EZ-Count system, Syngenta provides growers uniform pricing and assurance they are purchasing the correct amount of seed,” said Tracy Mader, head of Syngenta Seeds corn & soybeans product marketing.“EZ-Count eliminates concern over seed size and weight variation and allows growers to select varieties based on agronomic characteristics that are best for their farm, rather than the size of the seed. There simply is no more guesswork when it comes to how many seeds are in a package.”

The EZ-Count system will be used for all packaging options, including the TruBulk System available at more than 500 locations, Q-Bit boxes, bulk bags and paper bags, providing growers the option to select the delivery method best suited for their operation.

NK brand soybean varieties introduced in 2010, including the Aphid Management System varieties, are currently sold by EZ-Count.
