Mississippi State University’s North Mississippi Research and Extension Center will host its annual Producer Advisory Council meeting Feb. 18 in Verona, Miss.
Agricultural clients will meet with representatives from the MSU Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station to discuss outreach and research needs.
Free, on-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Magnolia Conference Center next to the Lee County Agri-Center. The general session begins at 9 a.m.
Agricultural producers from the 27 northeast Mississippi counties served by the center are invited to attend. Fifteen commodity sessions will meet after the general session, including agritourism, aquaculture, beef, cotton, dairy, equine, forestry, ornamentals, peanuts, sweet potatoes, swine, turf, grain crops, goats and sheep, and fruits, nuts and vegetables.
Mike McCormick, president of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation, is the keynote speaker for this year’s meeting.
The meeting will end about 2 p.m. Posters highlighting university research on a range of grower interests will be on display from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lunch is provided. Commodity groups will present their priorities after lunch during a general session.
The Lee County Agri-Center is located at 5396 Highway 145 in Verona.
