2010 Pigposium: successful and necessary

Herbicide-resistant weeds have emerged as a major problem in Southern agriculture and, so far, Palmer pigweed is the main villain. In response to the threat, Dr. Ken Smith and his colleagues set up the recent “Pigposium” – a forum to educate growers and consultants about the best ways to deal with resistant Palmer amaranth. In this interview, Smith, professor of weed science with the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, speaks with Delta Farm Press about the symposium’s success and necessity.
