The Arkansas Soybean Association has set Tuesday, Jan. 26, as the date of its 46th annual Business Session and Seminar.
The informative seminar and business session will be held at the Convention Center (1501 Weatherby Drive) in Brinkley, Ark., with registration beginning at 8:15 a.m. The program will start at 9 a.m. and conclude mid-afternoon.
The program will include a look at global warming, agricultural legislative updates, information on soybeans and nutrition, and farm safety. The latest information from the American Soybean Association, Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board, and United Soybean Board will also be presented.
Speakers scheduled at this time are Michael Borengasser, Arkansas State climatologist; Rob Joslin, president of the American Soybean Association; Matt Jackson, Arkansas Farm Bureau; Thomas Badger, director of the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center; Sen. Blanche Lincoln’s Senate Agriculture Committee staff members; Andrew Oliver, chairman of the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board, and Jim Carroll III, director of the United Soybean Board.

The Arkansas Soybean Association will also hold its 46th annual Business Session of membership. During this meeting, the winners of the 2009 Yield Challenge will be announced and the 2010 DuPont Young Leaders will be recognized.
Agri-business reps will be present to answer questions.
A live auction will be held during lunch to raise additional funds for lobbying and special projects. Auction items — provided by members of the soybean industry — include soybean seed, crop protection chemicals, custom applications, pearls, and many other similar items.
John Freeman, president of the Arkansas Soybean Association, said, “This is a busy time of year for all producers and we have designed our meeting to meet the needs of our membership. We are providing information we feel is important to producers in a day.”
