THE SOUTHEASTERN Branch of Entomological Society of America will hold its annual meeting in Little Rock, Ark., March 3-6. As a part of the meeting, an educational outreach program on insects — Insect Festival 2002 — will be conducted at the state fairgrounds in the Hall of Industry. The event, scheduled for March 6, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., will feature educational exhibits on insects and the environment conducted by faculty from several universities in the South, industry entomologists, local scientists and 4-H members involved in entomology projects.
The Arkansas Entomological Society will provide local support and coordination. 4-H members who would be interested in working or sponsoring an exhibit can call me at 501-671-2232.
School science and elementary teachers are invited consider the Insect Festival 2002 for a field trip for their students. The event is free. Educational materials will be provided teachers who attend.
