Kevin Lanier Simpson, Benton County, Miss., farmer and Farm Bureau leader, died March 7. He was 49.

He was owner/operator and partner with his mother, Joyce Simpson, in Simpson and Simpson Farms and Sod at Ashland, Miss. He was past vice president of the North Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation, current president of the Benton County Farm Bureau board of directors, and state board member of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation.

He was a past president of the Mississippi Young Farmers and Ranchers Association, and a past member of the board of directors of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company.

He was preceded in death by his father, Danny Lanier Simpson; and is survived by his wife, Cindy Johnson Simpson; son, Kyle Simpson; daughter, Lori Simpson; mother, Joyce Simpson, all of Ashland, and sister, Dawn Larson, Oxford, Miss.

Funeral services were held March 11 at Ashland Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, Mississippi Young Farmers and Ranchers Scholarship Fund, or the Mississippi Soybean Association.
