CI schedules Cotton Price Risk Management Seminar in Memphis, Feb. 10

Dr. Cleveland and Neeper will discuss the market outlook for cotton in 2014 and Dr. Robinson will talk about the basics of futures and options and when and how to use a variety of option strategies involving puts, calls and spreads. Joe O’Neill, former president of the New York Cotton Exchange, will serve as discussion leader.

Cotton Incorporated will hold a Cotton Price Risk Management Seminar at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tenn., Feb. 10.

Ed Jernigan, president and CEO of Jernigan Global Commodities, will be the special guest speaker. Jernigan will bring more than 30 years of experience in writing and speaking about and trading cotton futures to the seminar.

Also presenting will be Dr. O.A. Cleveland, professor emeritus at Mississippi State University; Jarral Neeper, president and CEO of Calcot; and Dr. John Robinson, Extension marketing specialist, Texas A&M University.

Dr. Cleveland and Neeper will discuss the market outlook for cotton in 2014 and Dr. Robinson will talk about the basics of futures and options and when and how to use a variety of option strategies involving puts, calls and spreads. Joe O’Neill, former president of the New York Cotton Exchange, will serve as discussion leader.

Among the topics that will be covered are “Why options on cotton futures are critical to your business?” “What can options do for you and how?” and “Actionable hedging strategies based on various price scenarios.”
