In its fiscal year 2011 budget, the Obama administration is proposing reductions in direct payments and other parts of USDA’s farm programs to help address the federal deficit. The proposals have yet to gain much traction, as they say in Washington. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack defended the administration’s budget plan during a press briefing at Commodity Classic in Anaheim, Calif.
