Get involved in political process, national farm leader urges

"If we thought our job was finished when we voted, we’re badly mistaken — it only started then,” says American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall.

American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall, on a visit to Mississippi, urged the organization's members to get  engaged in the political process.

"America’s farmers were engaged in last fall’s elections, and we helped change the direction of this country," he said at the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation's Summer Commodity Conference at Mississippi State University. "But if we thought our job was finished when we voted, we’re badly mistaken — it only started then.

"If we don’t stay involved, we will fail," he said. "We will miss the best opportunity we have to shape the future for our children and grandchildren. It’s our responsibility; it’s our time to make a difference, and I really think Farm Bureau members will come through.”
