East Arkansas Cotton Production Meeting set for Feb. 4

Feb. 4 Cotton Production Meeting at the Lon Mann Cotton Research Station south of Marianna, Ark. Topics to be discussed include weed and insect control, cotton varieties, water management.

The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service has scheduled a Cotton Production Meeting for producers on Friday, Feb. 4. The meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude around noon at the Lon Mann Cotton Research Station on Highway 1 south of Marianna. Lunch will be provided.

Speakers and topics include:

  • Ken Smith, weed scientist -- weed control (resistant-weed management)
  • Gus Lorenz, entomologist -- insect control
  • Tom Barber, cotton agronomist -- cotton varieties (LibertyLink and Roundup)
  • Leo Espinoza, soil specialist -- water management
  • Scott Stiles, economist-risk management -- marketing
  • Subodh Kulkarni, program associate/machinery -- soil compaction
  • Tiffany Davis – Lee County Conservation District update
