Cotton facing ‘Hard Day’s Night’ with the 2018 farm bill

National Cotton Council leaders gearing up for major fight over the 2018 farm bill.

The National Cotton Council’s initial objective this year is to win approval from USDA and the White House for another round of the Cotton Ginning Cost Share Program payments similar to those growers received in 2016.

Beyond that, the industry has a laundry list of objectives for the new farm bill ranging from finding funding for the measure to increasing market access funding for cotton – issues that would be challenging for anyone.

NCC Vice President for Washington Operations Reece Langley talked about those objectives during a briefing for members of the Southern Cotton Ginners Association at its summer meeting in Lafayette, La.
