Cochran: USDA ready, able to begin catfish inspections

The 2008 farm bill authorized USDA to begin inspecting imports of foreign-raised catfish and catfish substitutes like Vietnamese basa fish. After years of bureaucratic delays and false starts, USDA finally appears poised to begin the program. Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., discussed the situation during a press briefing at the Delta Council annual meeting in Cleveland, Miss.
