More narrow row corn?

Corn plant populations and row spacing are two topics that keep coming up as farmers begin to plan for 2011. Corn row spacing was also the subject of Erick Larson’s presentation at the Milan No-Till Field Day at Milan, Tenn. Narrow rows can help increase the light interception by growing corn, says Larson, a native of Kansas and one of the Mid-South’s leading experts on corn production. But there’s more to it than just narrowing the spaces between the planters, he says.
