Bloom restrictions new feature of Transform Section 18: Part III

Grain sorghum producers are having to deal with a new restriction when they apply sulfoxaflor or Transform on sugarcane aphids under a Section 18 Emergency Use Exemption in 2016.

For the first time they cannot apply the product from three days before bloom to seed set. National Sorghum Producers, the organization representing sorghum growers, asked the Environmental Protection Agency for data supporting the restriction and were told if they wanted the Section 18 emergency exemption, the language had to be there.

That’s just one area where farmers are having to deal with more challenges by EPA to the products they need, according to Tim Lust, National Sorghum Producers CEO who spoke at a media event held by Dow AgroSciences in Leland, Miss.
